US airstrikes hit multiple sites across southern Iran
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – US warplanes on Tuesday carried out airstrikes on multiple locations across southern Iran, targeting coastal and energy-related areas as military tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate following a new round of hostilities that began on Monday.
Iran’s state television reported five explosions near the Strait of Hormuz, in the vicinity of the coastal city of Bandar Abbas, an area that has come under repeated US strikes in recent days.
Local authorities said US forces also struck the coastal city of Bushehr, home to Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant, as well as an oil facility in Khuzestan governorate in southwestern Iran near the Iraqi border.
According to the Iranian state news agency (IRNA), Bushehr Deputy Governor Ehsan Jahaniyan said, “Four locations in the city of Bushehr were hit by projectiles launched by the enemy at noon.”
IRNA also reported that the strikes targeted the city of Abadan, home to the Middle East’s oldest oil refinery, and the coastal city of Mahshahr, a major petrochemical hub.
The reported attacks come amid continued military escalation between the United States and Iran, with both sides exchanging strikes since Monday.
