U.S. strikes Iranian military targets in new wave of attacks
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. military said on Tuesday it carried out a new wave of strikes against military targets across Iran late Monday, targeting coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities in an escalation of the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran.
In a statement issued on Monday, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation concluded at 10:15 p.m. Eastern Time on July 13 after a five-hour mission.
According to CENTCOM, U.S. forces struck military targets in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa Island, and Bandar Abbas, employing precision-guided munitions to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and maritime traffic.
The military said the strikes targeted Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime assets, adding that more than 50,000 U.S. service members remain deployed across the Middle East.
“American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready,” CENTCOM said.
The latest operation marks the third consecutive night of U.S. strikes on Iranian military infrastructure as tensions continue to escalate in and around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes.
The renewed attacks come amid an expanding confrontation between the United States and Iran that has raised fears of a broader regional conflict. Following the latest U.S. strikes, Iranian officials said they launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, while reports also indicated renewed security incidents affecting maritime traffic in the Gulf. Independent verification of all battlefield claims remains limited.
The escalation has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with commercial vessel traffic declining sharply and global oil prices rising as markets reacted to concerns over prolonged instability in the Gulf.
The United States has said its military operations are aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten regional security and international shipping, while Tehran has condemned the strikes as violations of its sovereignty and vowed further retaliation.
