Israeli forces enter western Daraa, establish temporary checkpoint
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced into the outskirts of Jamla and Saysoun villages in the western countryside of Daraa governorate on Friday, where they established a temporary military checkpoint and searched civilians and vehicles before later withdrawing, according to a North Press correspondent.
The correspondent said the Israeli force entered the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa and temporarily stopped passing vehicles and pedestrians, conducting searches before ending the operation.
The development came a day after an Israeli patrol entered Sida al-Golan village in the southern countryside of Quneitra governorate on Thursday. According to the correspondent, the patrol also established a temporary checkpoint, searched civilians and vehicles, and later withdrew from the area.
Villages located along the ceasefire line with the Israeli-controlled Syrian Golan have witnessed repeated Israeli military incursions in recent months. These operations have included the establishment of temporary checkpoints and restrictions on civilian movement, directly affecting the daily lives of residents.
Residents interviewed by North Press said the repeated military movements have disrupted travel and limited access to agricultural land and other sources of income. Most families in the Yarmouk Basin rely on farming and livestock breeding as their primary livelihoods.
Local residents also said that restrictions on access to farmland and grazing areas have led to growing economic losses, adding to the hardships faced by communities amid recurring military incursions in the area.
