UAE president receives Syrian foreign minister in Abu Dhabi

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani visited  on Thursday the United Arab Emirates, where he met UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral relations, avenues for enhancing cooperation, and developments across the Middle East.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), President Mohammed bin Zayed received al-Shaibani in a meeting that focused on relations between the two countries and ways to further develop them. The talks also addressed regional developments and ongoing events in the Middle East.

WAM said the two sides reviewed progress across various areas of cooperation between the UAE and Syria amid increasing political and economic contacts in recent months. They also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and current regional challenges.

Following the meeting, al-Shaibani said, “Today, I had the honor of meeting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and I conveyed to His Highness the greetings and best wishes of President Ahmad al-Sharaa for continued security, stability, and prosperity for the UAE, its leadership, and its people.”

He added, “I reviewed with His Highness the latest developments in the region and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and prospects for joint cooperation in a manner that contributes to supporting Syria during the current phase.”

The visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between Syria and several regional countries, including the UAE, as contacts continue on political and economic issues of shared interest.
