Syria to receive 128 prisoners from Lebanon under cooperation agreement

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais announced on Tuesday that Syria is preparing to receive 128 Syrian prisoners currently held in Lebanese prisons as part of an ongoing judicial cooperation agreement between the two countries.

In a post published by the Ministry of Justice on X, al-Wais said that Syria is approaching the transfer of a new group of Syrian prisoners numbering 128 inmates under the judicial agreement signed with Lebanon.

The minister noted that the transfer comes within the framework of ongoing judicial cooperation between Damascus and Beirut and reflects efforts to follow up on the conditions of Syrian citizens detained abroad.

The announcement follows the first transfer of Syrian prisoners from Lebanon, which was carried out by the Syrian Ministry of Justice in mid-March.
