Israel raises maximum alert along Golan and Lebanon border

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israel has raised its alert level to the highest degree along parts of the occupied Golan Heights and the eastern sector of its border with Lebanon after detecting individuals suspected of moving inside Syrian territory, Israeli media reported on Thursday.

According to the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli army declared what it described as an “infiltration night,” an alert status indicating concerns over potential border-crossing attempts. The measure was implemented in several areas of the Golan Heights and along the eastern section of the Lebanon border following reports of suspicious activity inside Syria.

The newspaper said military units were placed on heightened readiness as security forces monitored developments near the border areas.

Israeli media outlets also reported that Israeli forces began extensive search and sweep operations along the border in southern Lebanon, particularly in the eastern sector, in preparation for any possible infiltration attempt.

The heightened alert comes amid ongoing tensions along Israel’s northern frontiers and coincides with continued Israeli military activity in southern Syria, particularly in the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa.

The area has witnessed repeated Israeli incursions, shooting incidents, and military targeting operations in recent months, contributing to continued security instability along the border region.
