Child Killed in Landmine Explosion in Southern Idlib

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A child was killed on Sunday in a landmine explosion in the Jabal al-Arbaeen area of southern Idlib countryside, western Syria, according to Syrian state media.

State media reported that the child died when a landmine, described as a remnant of the former Syrian regime, exploded in the area south of Idlib city.

The incident comes weeks after another deadly explosion caused by war remnants in Idlib governorate. During the final third of last month, four children were killed and three others were injured when a landmine exploded in Abu Habbah village in the Idlib countryside.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a serious threat to civilians in several parts of Syria, causing recurring casualties, particularly among children.
