Homs Internal Security foils missile smuggling attempt to Lebanon

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Internal Security Forces in Homs announced on Monday that they had thwarted an attempt to smuggle missiles into Lebanon, following a security operation in  western countryside in Homs.

The Internal Security Forces stated that a man involved in the smuggling attempt was arrested, and the missiles were seized during a targeted raid carried out in the village of al-Amiriya in the countryside of Talkalakh.

According to the statement, the seized missiles were hidden and prepared for transfer to Lebanese territory through illicit smuggling routes.

The forces added that this operation comes in continuation of recent security efforts, noting that previous operations in the Talkalakh area also led to the seizure of weapons and ammunition intended for smuggling into Lebanon, in addition to the arrest of individuals linked to those cases.

Security operations in western Homs countryside have periodically targeted smuggling networks operating along border areas, where authorities have reported repeated attempts to move weapons and contraband across the Syrian-Lebanese border.
