Israeli patrol conducts raid, house searches in southern Quneitra countryside

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli military patrol on Monday entered the village of al-Asheh in the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, and carried out searches of several homes without making any arrests.

Local sources told North Press that the patrol remained inside the village for more than two hours, moving through residential neighborhoods before searching several homes and inquiring about certain individuals.

The incursion came a day after the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra witnessed a series of Israeli military movements and incursions, accompanied by the establishment of temporary checkpoints and restrictions preventing shepherds from accessing their grazing lands.

The sources added that forces from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) entered the village following the withdrawal of the Israeli patrol. UN personnel reportedly visited some of the homes that had been searched, speaking with residents and gathering information about the incident.

Villages in southern Quneitra countryside have periodically witnessed Israeli patrols and military activity near the disengagement line amid ongoing security tensions in the region over recent months.
