Unknown gunmen attack oil tanker, burn oil well in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen on Monday attacked an oil tanker with machine guns and set fire to an oil well in two separate incidents in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Local sources from the town of al-Ozba, east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle chased an oil tanker in the town’s desert area earlier in the day and opened fire on it, causing damage to the vehicle and spilling its cargo.
The sources added that the town has witnessed three similar attacks over the past week, with no group officially claiming responsibility.
In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen reportedly set fire to the al-Jawlat oil well on the outskirts of the town of Shaafah in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, causing severe damage and putting the well completely out of service.
