Israeli forces conduct series of incursions in Syria’s Daraa, Quneitra

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The countryside of Daraa and Quneitra in southern Syria on Sunday witnessed a series of incursions and military movements by Israeli forces, accompanied by the establishment of temporary checkpoints and the prevention of shepherds from accessing their grazing lands.

Local sources told North Press that a force of the Israeli army consisting of three tanks and two military vehicles, one of them equipped with a “DShK” machine gun, advanced into Wadi al-Raqad near the village of Jamlah in the western countryside of Daraa.

The sources added that four Israeli military vehicles later departed from al-Jazira military post, located west of Maariya town in the Yarmouk Basin area, and moved through the villages of Maariya, Abdeen, and Jamlah before crossing Wadi al-Raqad toward the occupied territories.

In the southern countryside Quneitra, the sources reported that an Israeli patrol advanced into the vicinity of Rafid village, where it detained seven shepherds, interrogated them, and later released them.

Separately, another Israeli force set up a temporary checkpoint for inspection between the villages of Kodna and Bariqa, coinciding with the movement of a patrol along the al-Asbah–Mazraat al-Fityan road. The forces also prevented shepherds from reaching pasturelands and agricultural areas in the region.

The border areas in Daraa and Quneitra countryside have recently witnessed repeated Israeli incursions and movements, amid growing concerns among residents over their impact on civilian movement and pastoral livelihoods in the border zone.
