Two security personnel found dead in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Residents in a village east of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria discovered on Tuesday the bodies of two members of the Syrian security forces. 

A local source told North Press that residents of al-Merei’iyah village found the two men dead from gunshot wounds on the outskirts of the village.

Following the discovery, security forces arrived at the scene, imposed a security cordon and prevented people from filming, the source said.

Security personnel also confiscated several mobile phones from individuals present at the location.

The source added that the two men appeared to have been killed recently, and their identities have not yet been determined.

A military source indicated that the two killed individuals belonged to the Division 80 of the Syrian Defense Ministry.

Authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the incident or identified those responsible.
