ISIS claims killing of 3 government soldiers in Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State group (ISIS) announced on Saturday that it had claimed responsibility for the killing of three members of Syria’s Ministry of Defense forces in Syria, two days after it claimed a separate attack in Deir ez-Zor.

In a statement published through its affiliated Dabeq news agency, the group said it targeted “a Syrian army member in the town of al-Mayadin in Deir ez-Zor Governorate using a pistol, and attacked two others with machine guns in the northern city of Raqqa.”

Meanwhile, the Media and Communication Directorate of the Syrian Ministry of Defense said that “a member of the Ministry of Defense was targeted by unidentified gunmen in the village of al-Wasita in the northern countryside of Raqqa, resulting in his immediate death along with a civilian.”

On Feb. 19, ISIS said it had carried out an attack that killed one Syrian government member and wounded another in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
