Two landmine blasts kill man, injure child in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – One person was killed and a child was injured on Sunday in two separate incidents caused by unexploded remnants of war in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.

A local source from the town of Khsham, east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that a landmine left over from the conflict detonated beneath a motorcycle near a former military site once used by Iranian-backed militia, close to the Khsham bridge.

The source said the explosion killed 29-year-old Ahmad al-Mansour.

In a separate incident, a child identified as Mohammad Hammadi al-Farih was injured in the town of al-Suwar, north of Deir ez-Zor, after a piece of unexploded ordnance detonated while he was handling it.
