Syrian Defense Ministry claims SDF drone attack, SDF denies
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that three members of its military police were injured in what it described as a drone attack carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near the town of Deir Hafer in eastern Aleppo countryside. The SDF immediately denied the accusation, calling it “fabricated.”
In a statement published by the Ministry’s Media and Communication Directorate, officials alleged that “within its continuous escalation against army positions across the republic, the SDF targeted a military police checkpoint near army deployment points in the vicinity of Deir Hafer east of Aleppo, resulting in the injury of three soldiers and damage to two vehicles.”
The SDF responded with a written statement rejecting the allegations. “We categorically deny the claims contained in the statement of what is called the Media and Communication Directorate of the Ministry of Defense regarding targeting a military police checkpoint near Deir Hafer east of Aleppo,” the SDF said.
The statement continued: “We affirm that there were no activities, movements, or military operations by our forces in that area today whatsoever. These allegations are entirely fabricated and suspicious, aiming to create pretexts and justify unjustified escalation. We hold the party that issued the statement fully responsible for its consequences.”
The SDF concluded by stressing its commitment to restraint and adherence to existing de-escalation frameworks.
