Lebanon arrests 35 Syrians, 9 Lebanese over various charges
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Lebanese Army announced late on Sunday that it had detained a number of Syrian nationals on various charges, including opening fire, illegal possession of weapons, drug use, human smuggling, and other offenses.
In a statement, the army said it carried out raids and search operations that resulted in the arrest of nine Lebanese citizens and 35 Syrians in connection with multiple cases.
The statement added that, as part of its ongoing pursuit of wanted individuals and those threatening public security, army units—supported by patrols from the Military Intelligence Directorate—implemented exceptional security measures on Saturday in several regions across Lebanon.
According to the army, the operations included raids, mobile patrols, and the establishment of checkpoints, leading to the arrest of the suspects in the districts of Akkar, Tripoli, Batroun, Baalbek, and Hermel for committing various crimes.
