QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday that its anti-narcotics branch operating in the Badia region foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs toward Jordan using balloons, arresting one suspect linked to the operation.
In a statement, the ministry said its anti-narcotics unit carried out monitoring and field investigations that led to intercepting the suspect while in possession of balloons prepared for smuggling. The destination of the shipment was Jordan, according to the statement.
The ministry added that security forces seized “batteries and wireless communication devices used in smuggling operations,” noting that all confiscated items were referred to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures.
“The suspect was referred to the competent judiciary to take the necessary legal measures against him,” the Interior Ministry said.
