Coalition warplanes intensify flights over Eastern Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Local sources told North Press on Wednesday that warplanes belonging to the U.S.-led Global Coalition have been flying intensively over the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria since the early morning hours.
The sources said the aerial activity was concentrated over towns and villages stretching along the banks of the Euphrates River and extending toward the Syrian-Iraqi border.
The warplanes were observed operating at varying altitudes, prompting a state of anticipation among residents in the area.
According to the sources, no airstrikes or direct targeting had been reported as of the time of writing.
The increased activity is believed to be part of routine aerial surveillance and reconnaissance operations carried out periodically by the Global Coalition in the region, the sources added.
Eastern Deir ez-Zor remains a sensitive area due to the presence of Coalition forces and their partners – the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as well as continued security concerns linked to Islamic State cells operating in parts of the province.
