Israeli forces advance, fire flares in Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces advanced on Sunday evening into several villages and towns in the countryside of Quneitra governorate in southern Syria, amid the firing of illumination flares over the areas of incursion, according to local sources.
Sources told North Press that five Israeli military vehicles entered the town of Ruweihina and surrounding villages in the central countryside of Quneitra, deploying among civilian homes while flares were launched into the sky. No clashes or house raids were reported at the time of publication.
The same sources said the incursion caused a state of caution among residents, as the military vehicles moved through residential areas before later repositioning outside the town.
In a separate development, another Israeli force reportedly entered the village of Bariqa, also in the central countryside of Quneitra. The force established a temporary checkpoint, stopped and checked several passersby, and then withdrew from the area after a short period, the sources added.
There were no immediate reports of arrests, injuries, or damage to civilian property during the movements. Local sources confirmed that the flares were fired intermittently during the incursion, illuminating large sections of the surrounding countryside.
