SDF commander discusses meeting with US envoy and CENTCOM leader
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – General Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) revealed on Monday evening details of his meeting with US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack and US Central Command Chief Admiral Brad Cooper in northeast Syria.
Earlier today, Barrack announced that he visited north and east Syria and held “substantive talks” with the SDF commander.
In a statement posted on X, General Abdi said, “It was an honor to receive US Special Envoy Ambassador Thomas Barrack and US Central Command leader Admiral Brad Cooper.”
Abdi explained that the meeting addressed a range of issues aimed at supporting political integration in Syria, preserving the country’s territorial unity, creating a safe environment for all Syrian communities, and ensuring the continuation of counter-ISIS efforts in the region.
He added, “President Donald Trump and Ambassador Barrack have played a sincere and effective role towards the Syrian people in their pursuit of resolving the crisis and achieving a better future for Syria and all Syrians.”
The SDF commander stressed the movement’s steadfast commitment to the goal that Syria “remains united for all Syrians.”
The meeting reflects ongoing coordination between the SDF and the United States on security, governance, and counterterrorism in northeast Syria, where the SDF continues to play a central role in stability.
