SDF’s Abdi calls for inclusive Syria in message to UK leaders
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – A senior official of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said on Wednesday that they had delivered a message from Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, to the British government.
Masoud Kasso, member of the SDC’ Relations Office in London, told North Press that the message expressed the SDF’s firm commitment to peace and its vision for a united and democratic Syria that belongs to all its citizens, free from exclusion or domination.
The message was conveyed during a meeting held on Sep. 29 between an SDC delegation and senior British officials on the sidelines of the British Labour Party’s annual conference, attended by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Defense Secretary John Healey.
Kasso said that Hassan Mohammed Ali, co-chair of the SDC’s Public Relations Office, personally delivered Abdi’s message to the British Prime Minister and Defense Secretary.
According to Kasso, the message urged the Syrian transitional government to fully respect the provisions of the March 10 agreement without selectivity or misinterpretation.
During the conference, Mohammed Ali also delivered a lecture on the Syrian situation, attended by the former Minister of Middle Eastern Affairs and several members of the British Parliament. The discussion centered on the agreement signed between Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa, which he said “revived hope for a political solution.”
However, he warned that the transitional government “is retreating from its commitments and misinterpreting the clause on the integration of military forces.”
Kasso added that the SDC plans to organize a roundtable discussion in London on Nov. 2, bringing together British political and academic figures to discuss Syria’s future and explore the United Kingdom’s role in supporting a peaceful and democratic settlement.
