Armed robbers attack head of sports club from NE Syria on way to Damascus
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Armed assailants robbed the head of a sports club from the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, on the Homs highway while he was en route to Damascus on Saturday, a source said on Sunday.
A source close to the victim told North Press that Reber Musawer, head of al-Jihad Sports Club in Qamishli, was traveling with former club president Hanna Issa and men’s team player Ibrahim al-Sheikh when the incident occurred.
The source added that unidentified gunmen intercepted their vehicle and stole the car, mobile phones, and sums of money in their possession.
As of yet, the Ministry of Interior of the Syrian Transitional Government has not issued a statement on the attack.
