Deadly family clash and two separate killings reported in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – One person was killed and three others injured on Friday following a violent clash between two families, while two additional bodies were discovered in separate locations in rural Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source in the town of Granij told North Press that “a disagreement between children from the same extended family escalated into a fight among adults, with firearms used, sparking violent clashes between the families in Granij.”
The fighting resulted in the death of 36-year-old Hussein Hassan al-Qurman and left a young girl and two young men injured. The injured were transferred to Abu Hammam Hospital for treatment.
In the town of Baqras, residents found the body of 20-year-old Abdul Rahman al-Quraish in the morning. The young man had been stabbed and his body was discovered near the Euphrates River. Internal Security Forces arrived at the scene to open an investigation.
In al-Hari, east of al-Bukamal, residents found the body of 29-year-old Khalil al-Nasser, who had been shot in the head in the desert surrounding the town. al-Nasser was a former member of the National Defense Forces.
Local authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into all incidents, highlighting concerns over escalating violence in parts of Deir ez-Zor countryside.
