U.S. Treasury removes Syria sanctions from Federal regulations

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Monday that it has officially removed Syria-related sanctions from the Code of Federal Regulations.

In a statement published on its official website, the Treasury said, “The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is amending the Syrian sanctions regulations to remove them from the Code of Federal Regulations, in accordance with Executive Order 14312 issued on June 30, 2025, regarding the lifting of sanctions on Syria.”

The Treasury noted that the removal of sanctions will take effect on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

The regulatory amendment is currently available for public review in the Federal Register and will become effective immediately upon its publication.

This decision marks a formal step in the implementation of the executive order that lifted U.S. sanctions on Syria, signaling changes in Washington’s regulatory framework concerning Syrian entities.
