DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Sunday with US envoy to Syria and Lebanon, Thomas Barrack, to discuss regional security issues, with a focus on the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Earlier in the day, Barrack arrived in Israel as part of a diplomatic mission aimed at addressing rising tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border and broader regional developments.
According to the Israeli news outlet Ynet, the meeting focused on US mediation efforts between Israel and Syria to reach security arrangements, while also pressing the Lebanese government to act on disarming Hezbollah and other armed groups in Lebanon.
Ynet reported that Barrack emphasized Washington’s request that Israel limit its strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon, and also raised the issue of the Israeli army’s withdrawal from certain positions inside Lebanese territory.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s LBCI television said the talks, which included US envoys Thomas Barrack and Morgan Ortagus, were described as “positive” and addressed both the Syrian and Lebanese files in detail.
