Druze militia reports 46 fighters killed in Suwayda clashes
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – The Men of Dignity Movement announced on Monday evening that 46 of its fighters were killed in the recent wave of deadly clashes that engulfed Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria last week.
In a statement, the Druze-led movement described the death toll as a “preliminary figure,” acknowledging the possibility of more casualties. The group also published a list naming those killed in the fighting.
“Our forces continue to defend bravely across all active fronts, including Arika, the northern countryside, and the northeastern regions, standing side by side with the heroic people of Suwayda,” the statement read.
The update follows an earlier announcement on July 16, in which the group reported more than 50 fighters killed or wounded in the escalating conflict.
The clashes, which erupted between Druze factions and armed groups from Bedouin tribes, caused heavy casualties and widespread concern, especially as government forces became involved, further complicating the volatile situation on the ground.
