Russia launches 26 missiles, 597 drones in overnight attack – Zelenskyy
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Saturday that Russia launched a massive overnight assault on Ukraine, using 26 cruise missiles and 597 attack drones.
Speaking on Friday, Zelenskyy renewed his call for stronger international sanctions against Moscow. He said that they are awaiting the approval of a new sanctions package and the enforcement of all measures that increase pressure on Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha also condemned the continued attacks, stating that Russia persists in escalating its campaign of terror by launching hundreds of drones and missiles, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.
Sybiha noted that western Ukrainian cities—including Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Lutsk—were among those hit in what he described as a “horrific” wave of strikes. Several other areas were also damaged by Russian bombardment.
