Israeli forces construct new military post in southern Syria
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces resumed on Wednesday the construction of a new military outpost in the countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Israeli bulldozers have been operating for three consecutive days to establish a military point west of the town of Jbata al-Khashab in the Quneitra countryside.
The source explained that heavy machinery has been used to build barricades and earthen mounds in the forested area, uprooting hundreds of trees in the process.
Additionally, a road has been constructed from the site of the new military outpost to the border with the Golan Heights.
According to the source, the establishment of the military outpost has sparked concerns among residents of Jbata al-Khashab, who have been barred from accessing the area where their farms are located.
The area converted into the military outpost spans approximately 50 dunams. Earthen mounds have been raised on the eastern side of the site, extending about one kilometer toward Jbata al-Khashab, the source added.
The source further noted that the area lies within the buffer zone, which Israeli forces had not previously entered under the control of the former Syrian regime.
