SDF reaffirms readiness to return Suleiman Shah’s remains to Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced late on Wednesday that the SDF is ready to facilitate the return of Suleiman Shah’s remains to their original resting place in Kobani, northern Syria.

In a statement shared on the platform “X” in Arabic, Abdi highlighted the SDF’s role in safeguarding the remains of Suleiman Shah, member of the Ottoman dynasty who died in the 13th Century, during a critical period in 2015.

At that time, the SDF assisted in relocating them from its original place near the Qara Qozak Bridge on the Euphrates River, south of Kobani, to a secure site in the village of Ashmeh, west of Kobani, amid an attack by the Islamic State (ISIS) on Kobani.

Abdi emphasized: “We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to protecting historical sites and express our readiness to coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure the return of the remains to the original mausoleum.”

“This effort aligns with previous international agreements and demonstrates our full respect for cultural heritage,” he added.
