Strikes on Iranian-backed sites kill 6 IRGC militants in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Six militants of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed on Tuesday night and several others were wounded in strikes that targeted Iranian-backed posts in eastern Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source told North Press that unidentified strikes hit a military facility of the IRGC in the town of Abu Kamal.

Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it had carried out a strike against a weapons storage facility and a logistics headquarters used by an Iranian-backed militias in retaliation for an attack on American personnel stationed at the Shaddadi base in southern Hasakah.

The source added that the strikes in Abu Kamal resulted in the killing of five IRGC members and the injuries of four others. The attack prompted Iranian-backed militias to mobilize and evacuate their headquarters in the area.

In a separate attack, another Iranian-backed militant was killed, and two others were wounded in strikes that targeted their headquarters in the village of Jaffra and Harabesh, located at the entrance to Deir ez-Zor city.
