ISIS suspected in deadly attacks on Syrian government forces in Homs

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Suspected ISIS militants attacked on Monday posts of the Syrian government forces in central Syria killing seven soldiers.

A military source reported that armed assailants, believed to be ISIS affiliates, targeted the headquarters of the Division 18 of the government forces at the al-Sukhnah desert in the eastern countryside of Homs, using machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

The attack resulted in three fatalities among the government forces, including an officer, the source said.

Two other attacks targeted positions of the Air Defense Division 26 near the T4 Military Airport in the Palmyra desert.

Intense clashes erupted, leading to the killing of four more soldiers, including conscripted Lieutenant Younis al-Masoud from Palmyra.
