Turkey unlikely to launch new operation in Syria – Turkish analyst

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish political analyst ruled out on Monday the likelihood of Ankara launching a new military operation in Syria, saying that both internal and external conditions do not support any military operation.

Turkish political analyst Cevat Gök said, “Neither the Russia nor Iran, nor the Syrian government, support any military operation in Syria.”

On Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had warned of potential new operations in Syria, stating that Turkey aims to complete “the remaining segments of a secure zone along its Syrian border.”

In an audio statement to North Press, Gök explained, “The situation is very delicate, with Turkey avoiding potential military losses, and public sentiment in Turkey is also opposed to any new military action.”

He added that the ongoing regional conflict involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Hamas has shifted the balance in the region, making conditions unfavorable for Turkey to initiate a new operation in Syria.

These recent developments, he argued, further complicate an already complex situation.
