CENTCOM announces killing ISIS operative in eastern Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday the killing of member of the Islamic State (ISIS) in eastern Syria.

The CENTCOM said via its official X Platform that its forces killed on Sep. 11 an ISIS member in eastern Syria while planting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to attack the Coalition forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

“On Wednesday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Forces killed an ISIS attack cell member in a strike in Eastern Syria,” the CENTCOM said.

It added that “The individual was in the midst of planting an IED for a planned attack against Coalition and Partner Forces.”

Founded on January 1, 1983, the CENTCOM involved in the Syrian crisis in 2014 when ISIS controlled large parts of Syria prompting the U.S. and its allies to intervene.

It led the Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and supported the SDF where they managed to achieve the territorial defeat of ISIS.
