Iran-backed militias relocate posts in Deir ez-Zor following attacks

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iranian-backed militias evacuated on Saturday several posts and weapon warehouses in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria in anticipation of a potential U.S. airstrike.

A source in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and linked militias relocated posts and weapons depots from the neighborhoods of al-Hawiqah, al-Qusour, and al-Villat to the al-Joura neighborhood in the city.

Al-Mayadeen, a Lebanon-based news website, reported that Iranian-backed militias attacked U.S. bases in Conoco gas field, to which the U.S.-led Global Coalition forces responded by striking posts in the vicinity of Deir ez-Zor.

The source, who preferred anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the militias evacuated a munitions depot and two military posts in the town of al-Mayadin.

He added the military personnel were transferred to the city of al-Quriyah, where they stationed in civilian houses.

The militias are still relocating the other posts, according to the source.
