AANES grants general amnesty for terrorism-related offenses
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) granted on Wednesday a general amnesty for offenses related to terrorism.
The amnesty law is special for Syrians who committed “terrorist” crimes against the safety of the AANES and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) according to the Criminal Law and Counter-Terrorism Law, said Yasser Suleiman, an official of the AANES.
The law contains six articles providing for amnesty for half of provisional imprisonment and commutation of long-term imprisonment to 15 years’ imprisonment.
The law pardons for the entire provisional and long-term sentence of a convict who is infected and who is over 75 years old.
The amnesty excludes emirs, leaders of terrorist groups, and participants in bombings and hostilities against the SDF, as well as crimes leading to the death of a human being.
