Second book fair kicks off in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The events of the second edition of the Raqqa Book Fair kicked off on Tuesday in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria under the title of “Raqqa is the Heart of Culture and Creativity.”

Abdurrahman al-Ahmad, member of the Presidential Committee of the Raqqa Intellectuals Union, said that all the books displayed in the fair, totaling 4,000, are from Raqqa, with no books participating from outside.

Eight libraries in Raqqa participated in the fair, alongside the Raqqa Intellectuals Union, democratic community organizations, and the Raqqa Committee for Culture and Antiquities, al-Ahmad said.

All of the abovementioned institutions are working under the auspices of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

The first edition of the fair was organized two years ago, featuring 20,000 books.

Al-Ahmad pointed out that there is a demand and acquisition of books in Raqqa, especially by university and high school students.
