Landmine blast in Deir ez-Zor injures 3 children

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A landmine of war remnants was exploded on Monday in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, injuring three children.

A local source said the landmine was exploded in the village of Abu Hassan in the southeastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

He added that it exploded while the children were playing with it, and injured Abdul Aziz Nawaf, 13, Jassem al-Khalaf,12, and Saad al-Barq, 11.

The three children were hospitalized to al-Kaysoum in the city of Hajin, and they are in good condition, according to the source.

Syria is considered the first globally in terms of the number of people killed in landmines, as the landmines planted by conflicting parties in Syria resulted in the killing of thousands of people.

In April, a landmine exploded on a group of children while they were herding sheep on the outskirt of the village of Tabiyah, east of Deir ez-Zor, which is under the control of Syrian government forces.
