Italian NGO holds event in Brussels to support health system in NE Syria
BRUSSELS, Belgium (North Press) – The Italian Ponte Per (UPP) organization held on Monday a side event in the city of Brussels to support the health system strategies in Northeast Syria region.
The event came at the margins of the Eighth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region”. It was held under the title “Beyond Relief: Sustainable and Inclusive Health System Strategies in North East Syria”.
a source told North Press that the event aimed to provide an open space for a technical reflection on the most effective modalities for coordinating and implementing early recovery initiatives within the healthcare sector in North East Syria.
He added that the UPP endeavors to contribute to the dialogue concerning coordinated, sustainable, participatory, and locally driven programming in the health sector, consolidating and building upon existing early recovery interventions while concurrently bolstering local capacities.
He pointed out that the aim is also to explore avenues for increasing the effectiveness and durability of interventions, thus striving towards more resilient and self-sustaining healthcare systems in Northeast Syria.
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an international solidarity association and NGO founded in 1991 immediately after the Iraq war. Its focus has always been the solidarity for the population of Iraq, Serbia, Kosovo and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries.
UPP’s goal is the prevention of armed and violent conflict, particularly in the Middle East, through a series of information campaigns, cultural exchange, cooperation projects, peace building programs and the creation of social justice networks.
