Unknown gunmen hit SDF posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified armed individuals attacked on Monday night several posts of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source in the SDF told North Press that unknown gunmen attacked with an RPG an SDF checkpoint near the entrance to the town of Abu Hamam in the east of Deir ez-Zor, resulting material damage.
The source added that unknown gunmen carried out another attack on an SDF post on the Euphrates River in the town of Tayyana. The gunmen used machine guns in the attack, which was followed by clashes that lasted for minutes without causing any human casualties.
In the village of Hawaij, unidentified individuals targeted with machine guns an SDF military vehicle. According to the source, the attack resulted in the injury of an SDF fighter.
Meanwhile, the Islamic State group (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack. ISIS-run Amaq news agency released a statement claiming the attack in Hawaij resulted in the killing of SDF fighter and the injury of another.
