Turkish forces shell north, east Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Sunday villages in the eastern and northern countryside of Aleppo.
Local sources told North Press that more than 15 shells rocked the industrial zone in the town of Tel Rifaat, north of Aleppo causing material damage.
The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300,000 of the original inhabitants.
There are about 1,500 displaced families from Afrin and 35 displaced families from Idlib live in Tel Rifaat, according to statistics carried out by the Autonomous Administration of Afrin, which is currently operating in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
There are also 630 families that include about 3.000 people of original residents in the town, according to the same source.
The Turkish forces and their SNA factions also shelled villages in the northern and western countryside of Manbij, northern Syria.
The city of Manbij, east of Aleppo, is one of the most important industrial centers in northern Syria, as it is a transportation hub and sits on a commercial road linking the Autonomous Administration held areas with those of the Syrian government, in addition to opposition-held areas in northern Syria.
Similar shelling hit villages in the eastern countryside of al-Bab in the east of Aleppo. No further information was reported.
