Aleppo airport resumes operations, excludes flights from Iran, Iraq
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – An official at Aleppo International Airport informed North Press on Wednesday that the airport has partially resumed its services, but it is not currently receiving flights from Iran and Iraq.
On Oct. 25, an Israeli airstrike put the airport out of service, just hours after it had resumed operations following another airstrike a few days earlier. During October, Israel has repeatedly struck the Aleppo and Damascus airports. These airstrikes seem to be aimed at limiting Iran’s activities in Syria, particularly following the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7.
The official claimed that starting from tomorrow, Thursday, “the airport will fully resume operations.” However, an official announcement by the Syrian government is yet to be made.
The source indicated that the “flights at the airport will be limited to the United Arab Emirates and Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.”
The source added that “some airlines will not resume operations at the airport for now; all incoming flights from Iran and Iraq have been canceled.”
