LATAKIA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, wildfires broke out in woodland areas in the northern countryside of Latakia, western Syria.

The firefighting department of Latakia said, “Firefighting teams are working to put out the massive wildfires that have broken out in the woods of Latakia northern countryside which are still uncontrolled until now.”

Firefighting teams used helicopters to extinguish the fires in areas of Solas, Khirbat Solas, Ain al-Zarqa, and Bait Shmese in Mashqita in the northern countryside of Latakia.

The head of firefighting teams stated to the pro-Syrian government al-Watan newspaper, “We managed to extinguish many fires in the last 48 hours.”

“We instantly respond to reports of fires breaking out so we can guarantee reducing the damage and limit the area of destruction, particularly in light of soaring the temperature,” The firefighter added.
