AANES seeks to return bodies of drowned Syrians from Algeria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Tuesday that they are seeking to bring back the bodies of Syrians who drowned off the coast of Algeria.
Algerian authorities stated they finished recovering the bodies on Monday.
On June 4, a boat carrying about 25 immigrants, mostly from Kobani, northern Syria, including women and children, sank off the coast of Algeria while it sailed in hopes of reaching the coast of Spain.
The statement added that the AANES is seeking to bring back the bodies “as soon as possible.”
