Syrian official announces residential projects for quake-affected in Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – An official source of the Aleppo Governorate said on Sunday that the Minister of Public Works and Housing, affiliated with the Syrian government, announced that residential projects for victims of the earthquake are now underway in al-Maasaraniya and al-Haydariya neighborhoods, in the eastern side of the city.
On Saturday, Suhail Abdullatif, Minister of Public Works and Housing, visited Aleppo city and observed the construction in al-Maasaraniya and al-Haydariya neighborhoods. He also met with officials from the Governorate to plan the next stages.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told North Press, “the projects announced by the minister in the meeting on Saturday in Aleppo, which is carried out by the Military Construction Establishment at a cost of up to 85.2 billion Syrian pounds [around $9.5 million], are underway and will be ready for delivery within a maximum period of two years.”
“Al-Maasaraniya living units are small in area but will be helpful to those affected. It includes four 90-square-meter plots of land and consists of 120 apartments, at 65 square meters per apartment,” he noted.
“The beneficiaries are those who applied through documents provided by the engineering committee that prove their real estate was demolished, as well as those listed by the Governorate as affected people. About 1,813 affected individuals will benefit from the projects,” he added.
