Seven hectares of wheat burned in Hama by government shelling
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, more than seven hectares of wheat crops were engulfed in flames on the outskirts of the village of Khirbat al-Naqous, in the al-Ghab Plain, northwest of Hama, due to artillery shelling by Syrian government forces.
A local source told North Press that the fire broke out after three artillery shells launched from Jureen base, located 6 kilometers away from Khirbat al-Naqous, were fired into the wheat fields.
Firefighting teams were unable to reach the site due to its proximity to the frontlines. Farmers, with limited resources, managed to contain and extinguish the fire.
Previously, another fire had broken out at Khirbat al-Naqous in barley crops following artillery shelling that targeted Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the fields. The fire consumed many hectares in the area.
