AANES mobilizes fire brigades with harvest time in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Fire brigades in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, are mobilized with the onset of the harvest season in anticipation of any fires, an official in the Fire Brigade affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Sunday.

Since the harvest season began, 18 fires have broken out in agricultural lands and devoured a number of wheat seasons.

Zakariya al-Assaf, an official in the Fire Brigade al-Sawa in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that they have established 16 points distributed in Deir ez-Zor countryside, and the points were equipped with supplies and teams to counter any potential fires.

Al-Assaf added that the brigade made visits to the harvesting sites and was provided with water reserve tanks.

The brigade, with the help of residents, managed to extinguish several small fires in the region, according to the official.

Additionally, an emergency room was formed to follow up on the work and monitor the harvest season since economy of the region manly relies on agricultural season, according to al-Assaf.
