Syria’s Suwayda witnesses calm after killing prominent drug dealer
SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria witnessed a state of calm and anticipation, following the killing of the most prominent drug dealer in the area, in a raid believed to be Jordanian.
Eyewitnesses told North Press that they saw a number of cars, which drug dealers used to use, left the village of al-Shaab and Twara, east of Suwayda.
The eyewitnesses mentioned that most of the smugglers who live in the southeastern countryside of Suwayda, left their positions for fear of being pursued, as happened with Marie Ramthan.
On Monday, the prominent drug dealer Marei Ramthan along with his family members were killed in an air strike that targeted his house in the village of al-Shaab, who was considered one of the most prominent suspects in drug smuggling from Syria, thus his death constituted a new stage in the file.
