Assad issues decree for establishing fund supporting quake-hit people
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree for establishing a National Fund for Supporting Quake–Affected People.
The presidential decree stipulates “establishing a National Fund for Supporting Quake –Affected People that is linked to the Prime Minister.”
The fund aims to provide the affected with financial support to overcome the physical, material, or moral damage caused to them, in accordance to approved standards, according to the state-run SANA News Agency.
The fund expires in three years starting from the launching date.
On Feb. 6, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and Syria, killing thousands in both countries and causing wide destruction and displacement of thousands of people.
