AANES discusses challenges of political process in Syria with French Senate

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) travelled to Paris to discuss the challenges facing the political process in Syria with officials of the French Senate.

The Forging Relations Department of the AANES announced, on Saturday, that a delegation consisting of the Co-chair of the Relations Department, Badran Chiya Kurd, the representative of the AANES in Europe, Abdulkarim Omar, its representative in France, Khaled Issa, and spokesmen for the People and Women’s Protection Units, Nuri Mahmoud and Roxana Muhammad, are visiting the French Senate in Paris.

The delegation met with Pierre Laurent, Vice-President of the French Senate. They discussed the general situation in Syria and possible political solutions.

The two parties discussed the Turkish threats and aggression against the region, and the political, economic, humanitarian and security challenges facing the AANES, according to the AANES department.

They also talked about the crime committed against the Kurdish people on Newroz eve in Jindires, Afrin, and the violations which are taking place in the areas occupied by Turkey, such as the processes of demographic change.

The AANES’ delegation demanded that France and the international community shoulder their responsibilities regarding these issues.

The Vice-President of the French Senate, Pierre Laurent, stressed the support of the AANES and the development of cooperation with it to confront terrorism and to find a peaceful and democratic solution to the war in Syria, according to the AANES’ statement.

The French official extends his condolences to the victims of the Feb. 6 earthquake in Syria, and to the victims of the Newroz killings in Jindires.
