Dozens of people get poisoned in Aleppo shelters
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Medical sources in al-Razi Public Hospital in the city of Aleppo said on Monday that they received around 120 people complaining of abdominal pain after eating bad food.
The sources added that these cases came from a shelter for earthquake-affected people in Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood, including men, women, and children of different ages.
The severity of some cases was mild, and they were discharged from the hospital after treatment, whereas others are still under supervision.
Fadwa Abbas said she felt severe pain in her stomach and intestines half an hour after she ate a meal given to the people in the shelter by al-Ihsan Charity foundation.
She added that all those who ate the meal got poisoned and were taken to hospitals.
However, Syrian government media reported that the same meal was distributed in many shelters without registering any cases of food poisoning from other areas.
An exclusive source in Aleppo said that “investigations are in progress to find out the cause of the poisoning.”
